FAQ
Everything you need to know about treating rust and shopping with The Rust Shop. Still stuck? Get in touch — we’re happy to help.
Yes — we ship genuine rust-treatment products right across Australia with fast, DG-compliant freight. Our warehouse is set up to handle dangerous-goods coatings safely and legally.
Always. The Rust Shop only stocks authorised, genuine KBS, POR-15, Brunox and RAPTOR — never grey imports or copies.
No. Ordinary paint over rust will bubble and peel within months because the rust keeps reacting underneath. You need to convert or seal the rust first, then topcoat. See our guide "Can You Paint Over Rust?".
Both are world-class rust sealers. Choose KBS if you want one matched system with the easiest prep and a self-levelling finish; choose POR-15 if you prefer the original, especially for chassis and fuel-tank work. We have a full comparison in our guides.
Usually not. Products like KBS RustBlast and Brunox chemically etch and convert rust, so you can treat most panels and chassis by hand. Sandblasting helps on badly pitted metal but isn’t essential for most jobs.
Done correctly — prep, seal, prime, topcoat — the repair will typically outlast the rest of the vehicle. These are the same coatings used on concours restorations and 4WD chassis in the harshest Australian conditions.
Absolutely. Tell us about your project and we’ll point you to the right products and process — just head to our contact page or reply to any of our emails.
